Michael Binko of kloudtrack talks about some of the trends SIIA sees while staying on top of new technology industry sectors are adopting.

Michael P. Binko is president/CEO and a member of the Board of Directors for kloudtrack® — a leading provider of cloud-based GRC data and process management technologies and solution services.
Prior to joining kloudtrack®, Binko was founder and currently still serves as Managing General Partner of Gemini Venture Partners LLP, an early-stage private equity and venture capital firm concentrating on technology companies in the software, SaaS|Cloud, mobile computing, communications, internet, social networking, enterprise data management, new media and related information technology sectors.
Prior to founding Gemini, Binko was with XRiver Technologies (NASDAQ: XYBR) where he served as Vice President of Corporate and Business Development. Concentrating on the markets of mobile computing and communications, XRiver is a leading intellectual property, technology and solution services company focused on wireless and mobile computing in numerous industry sectors.
Before joining Xybernaut, Binko co-founded and served as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for LaunchFuel Inc. a Reston, Virginia-based venture accelerator also working with emerging technology companies helping them become strong candidates for venture capital, private equity and other growth financing.
Prior to co-founding LaunchFuel, Binko directed corporate ventures and business development for PSINet, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSIX). In this role, Binko was lead executive and principal negotiator for acquisitions and business combinations in a wide variety of vertical industries. Previously with PSINet, Binko directed a variety of strategic sales, marketing and communication functions, reporting directly to the Chairman/CEO.
Before PSINet, Binko served in a variety of management functions at Stackig, Inc., a TMP Worldwide (NYSE:TMP) full-service marketing communications, public relations and advertising firm. As Counselor Binko directed business development and provided guidance to technology clients in various sectors, including networking, internet, advanced operating systems, database management, business process re-engineering, workflow, enterprise resource management and others.
Binko earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees (with honors) in both Business Communications and English from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Binko is a graduate of the Innovation Management program offered jointly by the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business and A. James Clark School of Engineering.
He has served as an instructor in the Corporate Ventures program with George Washington University (D.C. and Va.), serves as a business evaluator for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and he is an accredited practitioner in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), designated by APR. He was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Software Division of the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA).
Binko is also a graduate of MindShare®, an invitation-only program for CEOs of disruptive/innovative companies in hyper-growth technology sectors, and serves on the MindShare Alumni Board.
Binko is an Organizing Board member for the Startup Maryland region of the Startup America Partnership.
More recently, Binko was asked to serve on the NIST Cloud Computing Working Group related to Use Case Scenarios that will be untilized by the U.S. Federal Government as agencies migrate to cloud computing. The Use Cases are typically agency-level pilot projects that are considered strong candidates for FedRamp certification under the guidelines defined by the Office of the U.S. Federal CIO.
